Social Media: A technology that allows others to communicate, share thoughts and information from anywhere around the world. Role in Society: Now a days social media is a big part of our society. We use these technologies everyday and it helps us to communicate with family friends and co-workers. Without it we might all be lost. (examples: Facebook, Myspace, Twitter, Cell Phone) Effect on World: It greatly affected our world because back then it was really hard to communicate with others. Now its as easy as a phone call away. It has helped us to gain information faster and easier. Social media will keep effecting our world more and more as it develops.

Pros: 1) Communicate with family and friends across the world. 2) To gather information. 3) For emergencies. 4) Share thoughts and opinions, expressing yourself. 5) Faster way to communicate with others.
Cons: 1) Addiction. 2) Criminal activity. 3) Public information can be accessed by strangers, identify theft. 4) Some information can be false. 5) Taking away from face to face contact.
Social Networking Discussion
How important social networking is in my life on a scale of 1-10 I would have to say is a 8. I would say 8 because it helps make my life a whole lot easier. It helps with the work I need to do. It helps with communicating with friends and family. It also entertains me. It is used in a most part of my life.
I would think the average high school student spends 85 hours a week using media for entertainment.

This quote sticks out to me because it shows us that there are bigger meanings in life. Bigger and better meanings that we don't even realize.

I feel that every global citizen has the responsibility of what they put up on the internet. Yes we all have our right of freedom of speech but we should all keep that freedom to a limit. We have the right to say whatever we want to say on the internet but that doesn't mean there isn't consequences to what we say. If global citizens use the internet responsibly then the internet will be a better and more helpful way of learning and sharing. I feel that they should say how ever they feel because its there right but just keep it to a certain level.

The implications for me as a consumer would allow me to view anything and obtain information I want that isn't protected. Then again I would have to be careful bout what I trust on the internet. The implications for me as a producer would allow me to view, comments and to express what I think. Then again there are always consequences to what you say.

In my opinion I don't think Mark Zuckerberg stole from anybody, he came up with this on his own with a little help from something else. But he just made it something totally new. I find it pretty amazing how one person/company could hold so much personal info at once but as the people would shouldn't put info that we don't want anybody knowing. I don't think Facebook should be totally private because Facebook is a place to express your feelings and thoughts so thats exactly what everyone has the right to do. But people should know what is appropriate and what isn't and shouldn't post what shouldn't be posted. There are always consequences to everyones action, remember that.

The ads on facebook is what allows facebook to make money. I think its fair especially since there site is free because how else would they be able to make money off of what they made. They should play the role as if they were a normal person using social networking. They can use social networking to help citizens by being apart of it.
People are attracted to visualizations more then text because it capturers there eyes. It is also a lot easier to look at a picture and get an understanding of what is going on rather then reading a whole paragraph.

It is important to understand multiple perspectives in todays worlds because it gives you different ideas and opinions on things. It makes you think and thinking is healthy. It allows you to be able to share thoughts and understand other peoples opinion.

I think the most important part of any project is the information given. All information given should be accurate and truthful. It also should be organized and easy to understand so other people could understand as well as who did it. It also should stay on topic and not drag onto something else.

5/13/11 I personally think that everybody should watch what they do on facebook. If you put up a status saying you hate the world or anything to that perspective it could be seen as a threat to everybody and you could get locked up for it. Cyber bullying is also done a lot on facebook. People threaten other people about hurting them both physically and mentally. Hacking someone's facebook to make them look bad as a person is also some sort of a threat. For example taking someone's password to put up rude pictures of them and messaging people sexually things. Overall just make sure you know what your doing before you do it because its public and you could get in trouble for it.
